UAE partners lift gas production in Iraqi Kurdistan

Dana Gas and Crescent Petroleum producing 900 tonnes a day of liquid petroleum gas

Sharjah-based energy firms, Dana Gas and Crescent Petroleum, have completed the rebuilding of liquid petroleum gas (LPG) loading and dispatch facilities at their Khor Mor LPG plant in the Kurdistan region of northern Iraq.

The $15m reconstruction and upgrading of the loading facilities was carried out following an accident in 2012 by a tanker operator. The plant now has the capacity to produce up to 900 tonnes a day (t/d) of LPG, according to a 22 July press release.

The repairs to the LPG loading bay required a shutdown to production resulting in a 20 per cent drop in revenues in the first quarter of 2013.

The partners say their cumulative petroleum production has now reached 88 million barrels of oil equivalent since October 2008 with a total investment of more than $1bn, the largest investment in the region’s oil and gas sector.

Average daily production is 80,000 barrels of oil equivalent a day (boe/d), including 340 million cubic feet a day (cf/d) of gas and 15,000 barrels a day (b/d) of condensate liquids.

The partners are in talks with the Natural Resources Ministry for further expansions.
