Seven people of Arab nationalities arrested
UAE security authorities have arrested seven people as part of a terrorist cell affiliated with Al-Qaeda, including seven people of Arab nationalities, according to the official Emirates News Agency (Wam).
The cell was planning to carry out acts in the UAE “affecting the security of the state and the safety of its citizens and residents”, Wam reported, citing an official source.
The arrested group is also accused of planning to recruit people and promote the work of Al-Qaeda and provide it with funds and logistical support for its activities in the Middle East.
“State Security Prosecution will start investigation of the accused. Once these procedures are completed, they will be brought to trial,” the report stated.
