Firm wins second contract for island scheme in Dubai
The UKs Kier Group has won a $35m contract for infrastructure work on the Bluewaters Island project in Dubai.
The deal was awarded by the local Meraas Holding, and will cover infrastructure and public space works on the island.
The award follows on from an earlier contract awarded last year to Kier, in joint venture with the local Al-Shafar General Contracting, to build more than 700 apartments at the Bluewaters scheme.
Canadas Brookfield Multiplex has also started work on the estimated AED1.4bn ($381m) hospitality component of the development.
At the end of last year, the local Alec was awarded an estimated AED1.2bn deal to build the Wharf retail part of the Bluewaters scheme.
The consultant for the project is US-based Parsons International. Dubais Roads & Transport Authority (RTA) is responsible for the delivery and management of the scheme. Meraas is providing the funding.
