

UK contractor Petrofac has won a $30m project management consultancy contract to support PetroChina's work on the southern Halfaya oil field.
The firm will manage and supervise development and progress of engineering, procurement and construction work on the field for a period of five years.
Petrofac will oversee the work of the following units:
- central processing facility
- power plant expansion
- gas process plant
- all associated facilities
The Halfaya field, discovered in 1976 is estimated to hold 4.1 billion barrels of recoverable reserves with a potential to produce 200,000 to 535,000 barrels a day.
PetroChina, holds 37.5 per cent interest in the field, France's Total has an 18.75 per cent interest, Malaysian firm Petronas Carigali holds an 18.75 per cent stake and the remaining 25 per cent is held by Iraq's state-owned South Oil Company.
