URS completes acquisition of Scott Wilson

One of the projects now in its portfolio is the $7bn Haramain high-speed railway

US-based URS Corporation has completed its acquisition of the UK-based engineering consultant Scott Wilson Group.

The acquisition will allows URS to expand its international presence by adding a network of 80 offices worldwide, including Dubai, Hong Kong and Delhi.

URS will also now add a number of projects to its portfolio including the $7bn Haramain high-speed railway in Saudi Arabia.

“The acquisition of Scott Wilson opens the door to numerous new opportunities for URS in major international infrastructure markets,” says Martin Koffel, URS chairman and chief executive officer. “URS now is among the top ten UK engineering firms by revenue, with capabilities in critical infrastructure markets, including transit, high-speed rail, roads and bridges, airports, ports and harbours.”

Former group chief executive of Scott Wilson Hugh Blackwood has joined URS as a vice president of URS Corporation and senior vice president of international operations.
