GE Oil & Gas wins $200m deal
The US’ GE Oil & Gas has won a $200m deal to supply eight gas turbines to South Korea’s Hyundai Engineering & Construction for power generation at the new Habshab 5 gas processing facilities in Abu Dhabi.
The companies announced the deal on 2 February. Under the terms of the contract, GE will supply eight gas turbines which are capable of producing a total of 250MW of power and processing 2 billion cubic feet a day (cf/d) of gas.
The units will be used to power the new Habshan 5 gas processing plant, which is being built by Italy’s Tecnimont and Japan’s JGC.
Hyundai is building the supporting offsites and utilities for the plant, including the power generator. The main engineering, procurement and construction contracts for both schemes were awarded in July 2009 (MEED 16:7:09).
The turbines will be shipped to Abu Dhabi before July 2011, with the Habshan 5 facilities scheduled to come online by the end of 2012.
The deal is part of a wider integrated gas development to transfer 1 billion cf/d of high-pressure gas from the offshore Umm Shaif field to new onshore processing facilities.
