Private sector development is latest project win in Doha

US-based Hill International has received a contract from the local Al-Waab City to provide project management services on the Al-Waab City development in Qatar.

Hill says the three-year contract has a value of about QR14.6m ($4m) and covers work on the Central District, Phase 1.

Al-Waab City is one of the largest privately-held real estate projects being developed in Qatar. Stretching over 1.25 million square metres, includes more than 2,000 villas and apartments, more than 200,000 square metres of commercial space and over 100,000 square metres. The development will eventually be home to over 8,000 people.

The Central District is the remaining, partially-constructed piece of land with an approximate area of 400,000 square metres. It will consist of a 1.4-kilometer (0.9-mile) walk-through spine with retail, residential buildings concentrated at the eastern and western ends, a commercial building at the southwest corner, a four-star hotel at its centre, and a parking basement.

Al-Waab City is promoted by the local Nasser bin Khaled Holding.

In October, Hill received a contract from Qatar Electricity & Water Company (QEWC) to provide project management services in connection with the design and construction of a commercial development in the Marina District of Lusail City.

In August, Qatar Rail extended Hill’s project management services contract for the Doha MetroGreen Line. Hill is part of a joint venture with the local Astad Engineering Consultancy & Project Management Company.
