The US has received intelligence evidence of a possible terrorist attack against nightclubs in Dubai and has advised US citizens to avoid these establishments. The call came from the US Embassy in Abu Dhabi and the US Consulate General in Dubai on 16 March. In a worldwide warning in February, Washington said that terrorist groups were seeking 'softer' targets in the light of increased security at more sensitive locations - demonstrated by the October attack on a Bali nightclub. The US already warns Americans to take particular care in the UAE, urging them to 'remain vigilantly aware of surroundings, avoid crowds and demonstrations, keep a low profile, vary times and routes of all travel, and ensure travel documents are current'. The UK issued a similiar warning on 17 March.
