Vale could double Oman pellet production

Brazilian mining giant will make a decision on expansion depending on market conditions

Brazil’s Vale could double the capacity of its iron pelletising plant in Oman to 18 million tonnes a year.

Media reports in Oman stated that the $1.25bn facility will expand as the market for the pellets, which are used in the steel making process, in the region increases.

The complex also has a distribution plant that can handle a throughput of 40 million tonnes a year.
