Veco wins consultancy role on Abu Dhabi's 1.8 million project

15 January 2009

US/Canadian firm Veco has won the contract for the first part of the project management consultancy (PMC) on the $3bn '1.8 million' project planned by Abu Dhabi Company for Onshore Oil Operations (Adco).

A source close to proceedings tells MEED that Veco has won the contract and that the second part of the contract will be retendered "in the near future".

The UK's Amec initially won the consultancy contract in 2007, but it was retendered for reasons that are still unclear (MEED 20:4:07).

Another source close to the project told MEED in October that Amec had offered the lowest price when bids were resubmitted in 2008 (MEED 24:10:08).

Veco will work alongside the US' Washington Group International, the front-end engineering and design (FEED) contractor, on the scheme.

The work includes the drilling of production wells, the construction of gas-oil separation plants and inter-field pipeline networks in five fields.
