
Work involves doubling capacity of the emirates largest plant
Ras al-Khaimah Wastewater Authority has awarded Veolia Water Technologies a contract for the upgrade of the main sewage treatment plant (STP) in the UAE emirate of Ras al-Khaimah.
The work on the Al-Fileyah plant involves doubling the capacity from 20 million litres a-day (ml/d) to 40 ml/d. The 12 month contract also includes increasing the inlet flow and resolving odour issues. This will be done by implementing secondary biological treatment processes including installation and upgrades of aeration tanks and clarifiers. Veolia will also construction new bioreactors.
Veolia Water Technologies is a subsidiary of Frances Veolia.
