Biography: A qualified chartered accountant, Bhatia’s career spans more than 43 years in various industries and includes a long period with Al-Futtaim Group, UAE, at the helm of their electronics, engineering, technologies and real estate businesses. Bhatia was appointed chief executive officer of Jumbo Electronics Co. Ltd LLC, in August 2012.

At the time of leaving Al-Futtaim group in 2012, he was a member of its senior leadership team as group director and president, responsible for:

The group’s real estate portfolio (mixed-use developments of Dubai Festival City, Cairo Festival City and board member Doha Festival City) covering malls, schools, commercial and residential

The consumer electronics distribution and retailing business

The engineering services business covering MEP works, elevators, and building products

The technologies business covering voice and data services, ELV installations

The group IT systems and infrastructure (SAP environment)

The group advertising and PR operations

Representing the Al-Futtaim Group, he was a board member of Emrill LLC (facility management), Gulf Business Machines (GBM) (IBM distributor for UAE, Qatar, Kuwait, Oman and Bahrain) and was an invitee to the board meetings of Al-Futtaim Carillion LLC (construction) and Al-Futtaim Tarmac LLC (quarrying).

Bhatia is a former president of The Electronics Group, Dubai: the trade body representing the wider interests of the industry. He was recently awarded the accolade of Indian CEO of the Year: 2012 and recognised in the Forbes Middle East Top 100 Indian Leaders in the UAE in 2013.

Bhatia is a fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England & Wales.
