Vodafone Qatar has signed an agreement with Alcatel-Lucent as part of its expansion into the fixed broadband market. According to the deal, Alcatel-Lucent will deploy a new fibre-to-the-home network, based on gigabit passive optical network and point-to-point Gigabit Ethernet technology. The company’s IP Multimedia Subsystem solution be used to link the new infrastructure with Vodafone Qatar’s existing mobile network.
