Wind consultant appointed for Dubai tall tower

UK firm has been appointed for wind consultancy on Emaar Properties’ tall tower scheme

The UK’s BMT Fluid Mechanics, a subsidiary of BMT Group, has won a wind engineering consultancy contract for Emaar Properties’ tall tower project.

The contract will see the firm work on Emaar’s tall tower project at the Dubai Creek Harbour development, according to a company statement.

Earlier this month Emaar received prequalification documents from contractors for the deal to build the 928-metre-plus tall tower at its Dubai Creek Harbour development.

Emaar Properties plans to issue tender documents in October. The tender period will be six weeks, and an award for the fast-track project is scheduled for the end of December.

The consultants working on the tower scheme are Spanish architect Santiago Calatrava Valls and the local office of consultancy Aurecon, which is being supported by the UK’s RMJM.

The Calatrava-designed tower is the most high-profile building scheme Dubai has launched ahead of the 2020 Expo, and could be the world’s tallest if its height exceeds the under-construction Jeddah Tower in Saudi Arabia.
