Winterthur Gas & Diesel (WinGD) has secured an order for the supply of engines for 25 QatarEnergy vessels.
These vessels are part of QatarEnergy’s North Field East (NFE) project, which is claimed to be the largest ever liquefied natural gas (LNG) carrier-building project.
As part of the Qatar NFE programme, two 174,000 cubic-metre LNG carriers will use the new engines.
These vessels are being constructed for TMS Cardiff Gas at South Korean shipyard Daewoo Shipbuilding & Marine Engineering (DSME).
Several shipowners have tendered to construct gas carriers that will run under long-term charters to QatarEnergy. The vessels are expected to be delivered between 2023 and 2027.
