Construction work on the Qatar-Bahrain Friendship Bridge-Causeway is expected to begin on January 1. The bridge-causeway will link with the King Fahd Causeway that runs from Saudi Arabia to Bahrain, connecting the entire region. Its total length is expected to be 40-kilometres, carrying a two-lane dual carriageway motorway. The bridge-causeway is expected to cost more than $2bn and take four years to build.
