Field operated by US firm Hunt Oil targeted in attack
The US exploration and production company Hunt Oil has stopped production at one of its fields at the Jannah Block in Shabwah, central Yemen due to an explosion.
The incident has affected one of the four fields at the Jannah block and output of between 7,000-10,000 barrels a day has now stopped due to damage caused by the explosion.
Hunt Oil controls four fields in the area with a total production of 42,368 b/d. Yemen’s total oil output is around 260,000 b/d.
The explosion is the latest in a number of attacks carried out against Yemen’s oil network. Pipelines and the Aden refinery have been targeted over the past six months.
