
Study will investigate groundwater zones in the Sanaa basin
Yemens National Water Resources Authority has invited consultants to submit expressions of interest by 30 April for the pre-feasibility study of a water supply project in the Sanaa basin.
The study will involve an assessment of Tawilah group aquifer systems in southern, southeastern and southwestern groundwater zones up to 400 metres below the surface.The pre-feasibility assessment is to provide a geophysical and hydrogeological survey of the Sanaa basin in order for preparations to establish a well field there in the future.
The study, financed by the International Development Association (IDA), is expected to take six months to complete. It is part of the World Banks water sector support project that looks to strengthen resource management in critical water basins in the country. The National Water Resources Authority is part of the countrys Ministry of Water & Environment.
