Country had expected a deficit of $1.96bn
Noman al-Suhaib, Yemen’s finance minister has said the country’s 2009 budget deficit has exceeded the anticipated YR427bn ($1.96bn) by YR80bn, Yemen Observer has reported. A decrease in investment attraction as well as a continuation of oil derivatives subsidies played a big role in the increased deficit, the minister said. The report also focused on the effect of the financial crisis on Yemen.
