Abdullah Mohammed Saleh

Position: Governor, DIFC

Biography: Abdullah Mohammed Saleh was appointed governor of DIFC in July 2011. He has more than 40 years’ experience in the financial sector and acted as an adviser to the late ruler of Dubai, Sheikh Rashid bin Saeed al-Maktoum.

He was chairman of the DFSA from June 2007 to August 2011. Saleh was previously vice-chairman of Emirates NBD, which was formed after the merger of Emirates Bank International and National Bank of Dubai (NBD). He was one of the original founders of NBD in 1963 and served as managing director from 1982 until 2004. Saleh later served as chairman of NBD from 2005 until the merger in 2007.

He is also deputy chairman and a major shareholder of Dubai Transport Company (Dutco) and chairman of insurance company Marsh Insco. He sits on the board of Qatar Fuel Additives Company and is a director of KS Energy, an oil field services company.
