Abdulrahman al-Suwaidi
Position: Chief executive officer (CEO), Oryx GTL
Biography: Abdulrahman al-Suwaidi has been CEO of Oryx GTL since January 2009. He was seconded to Oryx in January 2007 from QP, where he had worked since 1987.
At QP, he held technical and operational positions in offshore operations, before taking on managerial roles between 1998 and 2007. He was responsible for QPs gas processing and distribution facilities at Mesaieed, and then gas production and reinjection facilities located offshore and at Dukhan. In these roles, he oversaw production and maintenance, operations, inspection, engineering and production planning.
Al-Suwaidi is a director on the board of RasGas, a member of the Dolphin Energy executive management committee, a member of the Ras Laffan chief executive committee and chairman of the Gas Processors Association GCC chapter. He has a degree in chemistry from Qatar University and a diploma in mechanical engineering from Bradford University in the UK.
