Qatari conglomerate acquires 25 per cent stake in Ecisa Compania General de Construcciones
Qatar-based Al-Alfia Holding has made a $50m investment in Spanish construction group Ecisa Compania General de Construcciones.
The move involves Al-Alfia Holding taking a 25 per cent stake in the Spanish holding entity attached with additional expansion capital. Al-Alfia Holding has also acquired a 51 per cent interest in Qatar-based subsidiary Harinsa Contracting Company, also coupled with additional expansion capital.
The deal will support Ecisa Compania General de Construcciones international expansion plans, which are set to triple revenue by 2018. The partnership also sees Al-Alfia Holding entering new sectors such as oil and gas.
US/UK DLA Piper was the legal adviser for the investment, with lawyers both in Doha and Madrid working on the transaction.
