The joint venture (JV) of Dubai-based Bonyan International and Singapore's BPL Engineering & Construction has been awarded the project management contract on The Lagoon. The estimated $86 million scheme calls for the construction of eight low-rise buildings housing restaurants and retail outlets over an area of 55,000 square metres. It will also include a 1-kilometre-long walkway encircling the central lagoon.

The local Ahmed Mansour al-A'Ali with BPL was awarded the main infrastructure contract during the summer. Abu Dhabi Investment House is the client (MEED 4:8:06).

Tender documents are due to be issued in late December for the main construction contract on the estimated $183 million Amwaj Gateway project being developed by locally based RealCapita. According to the client's schedule, bids will be submitted in mid-February with an award due at the end of March.

The scheme includes two 20-storey luxury hotels, four 20-storey residential apartment blocks and 94 townhouses, in addition to retail and leisure facilities. Germany's Keller Grundbau was awarded the piling contract in early October (MEED 13:10:06).
