State-owned oil company to increase the number of oilrigs in operation to 135
Saudi Aramco is planning to increase its operational rigs over the next 12 months as it looks to maintain its production capacity.
The oil giant’s rig count has dropped to as low as 104 since 2009, but Reuters has reported that Aramco now plans to raise that figure back to about 135.
The company is operating about 118 rigs after increasing production to fill the gap in supply arising from the recent Arab uprisings in Libya.
