Overview
Sonatrach, along with Bahwan Group, is building a fertiliser and urea complex at Arzew, in the Arzew industrial zone near Oran, on the Mediterranean coast. It will initially produce ammonia from natural gas and almost all ammonia output will be converted to urea for producing granular urea to be used as fertiliser.
The complex will consist of two 2,000 tonnes a day ammonia production plants, two 3,500 tonnes a day urea production and granulation plants, and supporting facilities.
For the Ammonia plant, scope of work includes:
- Ammonia reactor
- Nitrogen compressors
- Hydrogen compressors
Scope for the urea plant:
- Air and CO2 compressors
- Ammonia pumps
- Ammonia and CO2 gas recycle condenser and stripper unit
- Urea concentrator
- Carbamate absorber unit
- Urea and carbamate pumps
- Heat exchangers and condensers
- Urea processing units (pelletiser or prilling units)
Plus a desalination plant and jetty.
