According to Ashghal, approximately 80 per cent of the existing site has been developed, and comprises of residential villas and compounds, commercial developments, schools, mosques, parks and open space.

Ashghal has tendered multiple road packages over the past several weeks.

It recently invited firms to bid by 16 October for package 1 of the roads and infrastructure for the South of al-Meshaf scheme. The package covers the construction of roads and associated facilities for approximately 117 hectares of a predominantly residential community.

Several other packages are planned for the scheme, called QS049. Bids for package 3, which covers 64 hectares of development, are due on 4 September, while bids for package 4, covering 210 hectares, are due on 18 September.

The predominantly residential scheme is located 5 kilometres west of Al-Wakra Municipality.

Ashghal also invited firms to bid by 9 October for the operations and maintenance framework contract for the state’s intelligent transport system (ITS).

It will cover preventative and corrective maintenance as well as operations and new installations of the ITS network’s components such as traffic signals, traffic detection, and monitoring system and closed-circuit television (CCTV) cameras.
