Adnoc L&S will transport polymers produced by Borouge to shipping terminals in Abu Dhabi and Dubai

Abu Dhabi’s petrochemicals producer Borouge has awarded a transport contract to Adnoc Logistics & Services (Adnoc L&S), the shipping unit of Abu Dhabi National Oil Company (Adnoc), to transport 11 million tonnes of polymers from its Ruwais container terminal to Khalifa Port in Abu Dhabi and Jebel Ali Port in Dubai.

The three-year contract was "awarded after a rigorous competitive bidding process", according to Borouge.

In May 2018, Adnoc L&S signed a five-year agreement with Borouge for cargo management at the Ruwais terminal. The contract terms included handling up to 800,000 twenty-foot equivalent units a year and a variety of services, including skilled labour and management expertise.

Borouge, Adnoc’s petrochemicals joint venture with Austria’s Borealis, is looking to expand its market share across the globe through aggressive marketing of its high-value products, as part of Adnoc’s $45bn downstream investment plan announced in May last year.

Adnoc’s 2030 strategy is to grow its downstream business and triple petrochemicals output to 14.4 million tonnes a year by 2025.
