The 11 square-kilometre development is one of the UAE’s largest projects

Canada’s EllisDon has been awarded the programme management deal for the Dubai Hills development in the UAE.

Launched in 2012, the mixed-use project is being developed by a joint venture of local developers Emaar Properties and Meraas Holding.

It covers an area of 11 million square metres and includes gated villa communities, a commercial centre and high-end retail centres, as well as low-rise and mid-rise residences, hotels and serviced hotel apartments.

There will also be schools, clinics, mosques and an 18-hole golf course.

EllisDon was awarded two contracts for project management services last year in Qatar and the UAE.

In Qatar, the firm secured the project management consultancy deal for the Commercial Boulevard and Qetaifan Islands developments at Lusail City.

In the UAE, it was awarded work in Abu Dhabi covering the project management of the Ansam development on Yas Island for the local Aldar Properties.
