Dubai airlines consider flying from one terminal

Emirates Airline flights operate out of Terminal 3 while the main hub of Flydubai is in Terminal 2

Dubai-based Emirates Airline and Flydubai are considering options, including flying from the same terminal at Dubai International airport, to enable more convenient passenger connections following the enhanced code-share agreement they announced earlier this year.

According to a local media report, other options being considered include moving Flydubai operations to Terminal 1, which currently caters to international carriers that include British Airways and Air France, among others.

According to a report Paul Griffiths, CEO of Dubai Airports Company, said they expect to make a decision before the end of October.

Emirates currently flies from Terminal 3 while Flydubai’s main hub is in Terminal 2, in addition to operating flights from Al-Maktoum International, Dubai’s second airport located in Dubai South.

Qantas, the only other airline that utilises Terminal 3, will cease flying to Terminal 3 starting March 2018. This implies there is a possibility for both Emirates and Flydubai to operate out of Terminal 3.  This option, however, will require the immediate construction of new facilities at Terminal 3.

Griffiths earlier told MEED that the planned migration of all Flydubai flights into Al-Maktoum International, originally planned for this month, has been delayed.
