Dubai gives Infinity Bridge bidders more time

02 January 2018
Tender closing date has been moved to January from December

The Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has extended the tender closing date for the contract to build the Infinity Bridge crossing Dubai Creek.

The new closing date is 23 January. The original closing date was 26 December.

Dubai wants the Infinity Bridge to be another architectural landmark for the emirate. It will be a box girder bridge with a decorative Infinity arch that offers minimal structural functionality. The bridge will have a total length of about 300 metres with 15 metres of clearance above the waters of the Creek. It is expected that it will take 24 months to build.

The Infinity Bridge will be built near to the mouth of the Creek. It is part of the larger Shindagha Corridor scheme that runs through Bur Dubai and Deira.

The RTA has also tendered a contract for the construction of roads connecting to Nakheel’s Deira Islands development.

The US’ Parsons is the consultant for the Shindagha Corridor scheme and the Infinity Bridge.

The RTA awarded the first section of the Shindagha Corridor scheme in early 2016. The local Wade Adams Contracting won a AED611m ($166m) contract to upgrade Sana junction. It is located in Karama next to Zabeel Park on the road leading from World Trade Centre to BurJuman mall.
