Jeddah logistics park primed to become kingdoms largest
Saudi Arabia Trade and Export Development Company (Tusdeer) has awarded a contract to Netherlands-based Royal Haskoning to provide the master planning and consulting engineering services for the 634,000 square-metre logistics park in Jeddah.
Royal Haskoning will prepare the master plan and detailed construction documentation for the first phase of the logistics park, in addition to providing design, development and utilities solutions.
The project site plan includes a logistics hub, warehouses that can accommodate dry and cold storage, container storage, handling and accommodation for workers, Royal Haskoning said in a statement.
The Khumra Logistics Park (TKLP) in south Jeddah is being developed by Tusdeer as a public-private partnership (PPP).
The planned logistics hub will help to facilitate trade and commercial opportunities within Saudi Arabia, Phil Eiszele, project director at Tusdeer said.
The logistics hub will be developed in stages over a seven year period and is envisaged to become the largest integrated logistics hub in the kingdom.
It also promises to create employment opportunities and support the local economy.
