Egypt awards electrical substations contract

Projects will be located on Red Sea coast

State-owned Egyptian Electricity Transmission Company (EETC) has awarded a contract worth £E350m ($20m) to German Electrical Manufacturing Company (Egemac) to install two power transmission substations in Sharm el-Sheikh and Hurghada on the Red Sea coast.

The capacity of the transmission station in Sharm el-Sheikh will reach 66kV, with the capacity of the Hurghada station to reach 220kV.

The substation projects will take about 12 months to complete.

Egemac is currently installing two transformer stations for EETC in Tanya, Gharbeya, and Mashtool, Shargeya.
