Italy’s Eni has awarded the UK’s Expro the contract to provide chemical analysis laboratory work at the Zubair oil field in Iraq.
The oil field services company has a three-year contract with the option of a two-year extension. The value of the initial contract is worth $12.5m.
Eni is the lead company in the Zubair consortium and is responsible for oil production at the field. It is currently executing plans during 2011 and 2012 to rehabilitate and upgrade the wells and other facilities.
The Zubair field is one of the largest oil fields in the world with reserves of 4.5 billion barrels and current production capacity of 195,000 barrels a day. The field is located in the Basra province of southern Iraq.
