EXCLUSIVE: Local contractor wins Dubai theme park construction

ASGC will build the Six Flags park at Dubai Parks & Resorts

The local ASGC has been awarded the contract to build the Six Flags theme park in Dubai.

The construction contract involves the construction of low rise buildings for six zones of the theme park. The zones are the Thrill Seeker Plaza, Fiesta Texas, Great Adventure, Magic Mountain, Great Escape, and Great America.

The construction package excludes the rides and the infrastructure, which are being procured separately.

The AED2.6bn ($0.71bn) Six Flags theme park is the second phase of the Dubai Parks & Resorts development close to the Abu Dhabi border.

It will be the first Six Flags-branded theme park in the region and will include 27 rides and attractions for all ages across its six themed zones. It is scheduled to open in late 2019, in time for the 2020 Expo.

The project is being developed by a special purpose vehicle known as SF Dubai, which is an affiliate of DXB Entertainments.

The $3bn first phase of the Dubai Parks development opened in 2016. The theme parks located within it are Motiongate, Legoland and a Bollywood theme park. Together they cover an area of 2.5 square kilometres and have a total of 83 rides and attractions.
