Three international consortiums submitted proposals on 12 November

Three groups submitted proposals for the planned 500MW Ibri solar independent power project (IPP) in Oman on 12 November.

According to sources close to the project, bids were received from the following developers:

  • Acwa Power (Saudi Arabia)
  • Marubeni (Japan)
  • Masdar (UAE) / Total (France) / Jinko Solar (China)

MEED reported in early November that OPWP had appointed Germany’s Fichtner and the UK’s DLA Piper as the technical and legal advisers respectively, for the scheme. OPWP has also appointed US/India’s Synergy Consulting as financial adviser for the solar project.

The 500MW photovoltaic (PV) solar project is part of Oman’s plans to diversify its fuel resources for power generation.

MEED recently reported that Petroleum Development Oman (PDO) had awarded a contract to a consortium led by Japan’s Marubeni Corporation to develop a 100MW photovoltaic (PV) solar plant at Amin in the southern region of the sultanate.
