Falah Mohamed al-Ahbabi
Position: General manager, Abu Dhabi Urban Planning Council (UPC)
Biography: Falah Mohamed al-Ahbabi is general manager of the UPC, which is responsible for the creation, development and implementation of the Abu Dhabi 2030 urban structure framework plans to develop the emirate of Abu Dhabi.
Al-Ahbabi played a key role in the creation of the UPC’s structure in 2007. Included in the Abu Dhabi Vision 2030 plan is the Al-Gharbia 2030 plan, which aims to develop the emirate’s Western Region through environmental, social, economic and cultural investment. Before joining the UPC, Al-Ahbabi helped establish the first helicopter academy in the Middle East.
He was also involved in the launch of a satellite while working with state investment firm Mubadala Development Company. Other highlights of Falah’s career include the privatisation of government services and work in the utilities sector.
