Firms to submit bids for Gate of Kuwait in October

Bids for the Gate of Kuwait are expected to be submitted in October.

The Gate project, 270 metres and 70-floors high, will be one of the capital's tallest buildings.

The contract is estimated to be worth $260m. The mixed-use tower will be in Al-Sour street in Kuwait City, with a built-up area of 127,000 square metres and will provide 5,000 sq m of retail space.

Firms expected to bid include the local Ahmadiah Trading & Contracing and Mohammed Abdulmohsin al-Kharafi & Sons.

Gate of Kuwait has been designed by a South African/local team of GLH Partnership and KEO International Consultants (MEED 28:10:05).

The local Al-Bahar Construction for Trading & Contracting Company carried out the excavation, shoring and dewatering works (MEED 1:7:05).
