France’s Systra has been selected for a consultancy contract covering signalling and telecommunication works on a rail line connecting the Algerian city of Tizi-Ouzou to Oued Aissi.

The contract has been provisionally awarded by the Algerian railway development agency Anesrif.

There have been a number of other rail and tramway tenders out in the Algerian market. On 14 February, the Algerian national railway company, Societe Nationale des Transports Ferroviaires (SNTF) tendered for 30 diesel locomotives. The deadline for bids was set for 1 April.

The Algerian metro company has also tendered construction contracts for tramways in the cities of Ouaragla and Sidi Bel Abbes.
