Construction of hangars is planned to start in January
The local Al-Faraa General Contracting is the frontrunner for the estimated $350m design-and-build contract for the Advanced Military Maintenance Repair and Overhaul Centre (Ammroc) in Al-Ain.
The client, Abu Dhabis Mubadala Aerospace, says construction work on the project is planned to start in January, adding that it is in final negotiations with a contractor to build the project.
The Ammroc facility will be located at Mubdala Aerospaces Nibras al-Ain Aersopace Park. The Nibras park is being developed in nine phases and will cover a total area of 25 square kilometres. The park is expected to create 10,000 jobs by 2030.
Mubadala Aerospace was formed in 2002 by the Abu Dhabi government as part of the emirates economic diversification efforts.
In November 2013, Mubadala secured a total of more than AED43bn of deals for the UAEs aerospace and defence sector.
