Gelsenwasser to improve water services in Algeria

Germany’s Gelsenwasser has signed a €23m ($33.2m) contract to provide drinking water services in eastern Algeria.

Under the five and a half year deal, the company will upgrade and manage drinking water facilities in the provinces of Annaba and El-Tarf near the Tunisian border.

It will improve water distribution in the two provinces, modernise water networks and sanitation facilities, and set up a training centre to improve local expertise.

The contract was signed on 18 December.
