Abu Dhabi contractor to upgrade storage capacity for Petrochem at Jebel Ali Free Zone
Abu Dhabi-based Ghantoot Group has been awarded a $45m contract to expand chemicals storage facilities at Jebel Ali Free Zone in Dubai, according to a source working on the project.
The engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) deal was awarded to Ghantoot by the UAE-based Petrochem, after the tender in April 2013. The contract includes the construction of four tanks, pipelines, warehouse facilities and associated works.
Other companies bidding for the EPC deal included Dubai-based Albanna Engineering.
Petrochem hired UK-based engineering group Atkins to carry out a feasibility study on the scheme.
The petrochemicals firm specialises in logistics for a variety of industrial and speciality chemicals, with operations in Dubai, Abu Dhabi and Qatar.
