Biography: Since joining the board of Arabtec Holding in August 2012, Hasan Abdullah Ismaik has spearheaded an overhaul of the UAE-based construction company’s business. His aim is to drive growth by targeting new sectors, strengthening and consolidating the firm’s operations through acquisitions, joint ventures and strategic alliances.

During 2013, Ismaik led Arabtec into the engineering, procurement and construction sector by forming a joint venture with South Korea’s Samsung Engineering, and signed a similar agreement with another South Korean company, SK Engineering & Construction, which will look for heavy civil infrastructure work. Arabtec also bought the remaining shares of the local infrastructure and marine engineering specialist Target Engineering and electromechanical contractor Emirates Falcon Electromechanical Company (Efeco).

Ismaik’s attentions will shift to project delivery in 2014.
