Sirocco, a joint venture of Heineken and alcohol distributor Maritime & Mercantile International (MMI), plans to open a brewery in Dubai.
Construction of the “state-of-the-art” facility is expected to start before the end of 2025, with building completion expected by the end of 2027, Sirocco said in a statement.
With the new facility, Sirocco will locally produce brands such as Heineken, Kingfisher, Amstel, and Birra Moretti, providing “greater flexibility to local market demands”.
This expansion will increase Sirocco's employment in Dubai from around 65 full-time positions to approximately 190.
Sirocco said it has obtained “all necessary permits and licences” from local authorities for the project.
Funding for the brewery will come from local borrowing and cash flow, it added.
