Biography: Henk Pauw has been CEO of Sohar Aluminium since July 2010, joining a year after the company’s smelter reached full capacity. He has overseen the transformation of Sohar Aluminium from a startup enterprise into a company that currently employs about 1,000 people.
Pauw joined Sohar Aluminium from Dutch aluminium producer Aluchemie, where he had been managing director from June 2007. He has a long career in industrial plant management, stretching back to 1982. Between 2004 and 2007, he worked for Recticel Interiors North America, a manufacturer of polyurethane skins and components for car interiors, as vice-president and industrial manager.
He is a member of the Gulf Aluminium Council and is chairman of Al-Batinah International School in Sohar. Pauw has a degree in chemical engineering from HTS Groningen in the Netherlands.
