US-based Hill International has been awarded a contract by the local Abraj Misr Company to provide project management services on a mixed-use development in Cairo, called The Gate.

Hill’s contract, which is valued at $2.4m, will run for four years and involves managing a residential complex that will include eight interlocked towers. These will comprise a five-star hotel, six residential buildings and one luxury residential tower.

The award is Hill’s latest in Cairo. In July 2014, it was appointed to project manage the construction of the $500m Terminal 2 at Cairo International airport. That 15-month contract is valued at $1.9m.

There are more than $140bn-worth of real estate schemes planned in Egypt as the government seeks to drive investment in the country and build much-needed social housing.
