The 50,000-square-metre museum is being developed by Oman’s Royal Court Affairs

Indian firm Shapoorji Pallonji International has been awarded the main construction contract to build the estimated $500m Oman Renaissance Museum project.

The project, which is being developed by Oman’s Royal Court Affairs, will be a 50,000-square-metre museum that has been designed to be a cultural landmark for the sultanate. It has a wood and metal design and will also use locally sourced stone.

Australia’s Cox Architecture is the designer.

Another cultural attraction is being developed by the Heritage & Culture Ministry. In December 2014, it received offers from four contractors for the deal to build the Oman Cultural Complex in Muscat.
