Salalah Free Zone Company appoints Indian firm for work on Adhan phase one

  • L&T wins infrastructure contract in Oman
  • Contractor to begin work on Salalah Free Zone project in April

India’s Larsen & Toubro (L&T) Oman has signed an infrastructure and facilities development deal worth $38.8m with Salalah Free Zone Company (SFZ) in Oman.

Under the 32-month contract, L&T Oman will carry out infrastructure work on the Adhan phase one area of the free zone, which is spread across a total area of 212 hectares.

SFZ is looking to develop the infrastructure of the free zone in order to attract various industries in the coming years.

Awad bin Salem al-Shanfari, CEO of SFZ, was quoted as saying: “The idea is to host a good number of distribution and redistribution companies, export and export units by offering them investment sites for resettlement of investments in the region.”

L&T Oman also recently submitted technical bids for several packages on the new 265-kilometre-long Batinah Expressway in the sultanate.
