New Dubai precinct will be built next to Jumeirah Beach Residences
Local developer Meraas Development has selected the local Khansaheb Civil Engineering for the contract to build a beachfront retail and entertainment project in Dubai.
The scheme will be built on the beach in front of the Jumeirah Beach Residences development between the Hilton and Sheraton hotels. The site is currently used as an open car park. The development will include retail and food and beverage outlets.
Meraas received bids from contractors for the project in June.
The architect is UK-based Benoy.
Meraas is now pushing ahead with several projects across Dubai. It is developing the infrastructure on its Pearl Jumeirah Island, which previously formed the first phase of its ambitious $95bn Jumeirah Gardens City scheme in Dubai.
In December 2011, Meraas awarded the local/UK Al-Futtaim Carillion the contract to build the first phase of its The Avenue project. The three-phase retail development will be spread over 1.1 kilometres and will be built on the crossroads of Al-Wasl road and Safa road. The consultant for the scheme is the local Dewan Architects & Engineers.
