Position: Energy & industry minister
Biography: Mohammed bin Saleh al-Sada has been Qatar’s energy & industry minister since January 2011. He previously served as minister of state for energy & industry affairs from April 2007.
In addition to ministerial responsibilities, Al-Sada has been managing director and chairman of the board of Qatar Petroleum (QP) since February 2011. He is also chairman of the board of directors at RasGas, a joint venture of QP and the US’ ExxonMobil.
Al-Sada is vice-chairman of the board of Qatar Steel and chairman of Qatar Chemicals Company, QatarGas and Qatar International Petroleum. Previous roles included technical director of Qatar Petroleum and managing director at RasGas. Al-Sada has an undergraduate degree in marine science and geology from Qatar University and a doctorate from the UK’s University of Manchester Institute of Science and Technology.
