Local developer Nakheel has signed a AED66m ($18m) contract with China’s Beijing Water Design to deliver and operate a fountain at The Point development on the Palm Jumeirah.
The dynamic fountain will be installed in 12,000 square metres of water.
The Point is a AED800m waterfront dining and entertainment promenade at the end of the fronds on the Palm Jumeirah across the water from the Atlantis resort. It features nearly 70 restaurants, shops and attractions, with food and beverage (F&B) making up 70 per cent of the concepts on offer. There is also a cinema, children’s play area, supermarket, gyms and beauty salons.
It has a car park for 1,600 vehicles and will have its own Palm Monorail station. There are also plans for boat access from Palm Jumeirah’s hotels and resorts.
It will be operated by Nakheel Malls, the retail arm of Nakheel.
In 2014 Nakheel awarded an AED375m contract to Gulf Technical Construction Company (GTCC) to build The Pointe.
